Molly O’ Halloran has a soft spot for veterans.
O’ Halloran, a senior at Seekonk High School, delivered 35 care packages on Veterans Day to residents either serving in the military or who have served in the past.
For the project named “Warriors Amongst Us,” O’Halloran solicited donations from all four Seekonk schools.
The packages included toiletries, socks and underwear, non-perishable food items, coffee mugs, stationary and gift cards to local stores, restaurants, and pharmacies.
O’ Halloran got the idea for the project when a friend of her mother’s was trying to send a package to her son deploying overseas.
The goal of the project was to show veterans that students care about service to the country.
O’Halloran collected a list of names and addresses from Seekonk Veteran Service Officer James LaFlame.
Recipients’ appreciation has been overwhelming, O’Halloran said.
She also is happy with the work she has done for veterans.
“I felt I really made a difference,” O’Halloran said.
